Dear Friend,
I think that we can agree - Rhode Island is a wonderful state. We know that we have tremendous needs here, and tremendous opportunities, and that working together, we can do better.
Throughout the years in my role as a business entrepreneur and active community leader I've been a participant in key Rhode Island
organizations like the RI Economic Development Corporation, the
Providence/Warwick Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Downtown
Merchants Association. During that time I have worked on behalf of
small business to those who need to be reminded that over 90% of us in
this state are employed not by Amgen or Fidelity, but by small,
independent, family owned enterprises across Rhode Island. I've fought for social and economic justice for all of us who work, visit and live in our state.
I?m excited to let you know that I've decided to take the next step in my commitment to making positive change in Rhode Island. With
the opportunity provided by our Senator Elizabeth Roberts' decision to
run for Lieutenant Governor, I am proud to say that I have decided to
run for the State Senate in the Democratic Primary.
And so, I am writing to ask for your help - so that we can take this step together.
I
am pleased to announce that I'll be holding my Family Fun Night &
Campaign Kick-Off on Monday, May 15, from 6:30 to 8:30, with a family
fun night at AMF Lang's Bowl-a-Rama, on 225 Niantic Avenue, in Cranston. Tickets are $35 (kids free!), with sponsorships at $100, $250, and $500.
I invite you to attend with your family and help me kick-off my campaign! There will be food, music, bowling (with child care for the kids), and chance to get involved in my campaign. Please clip and return the enclosed reply form.
You
know that we have a lot of work to do to address the issues facing us:
a state economy that puts our lowest income residents at risk and does
not do enough to encourage creative economic development; an
environment at risk from federal inaction and local pollution; an
education system that leaves too many behind; and challenges to a
woman's right to choose and to equality for every Rhode Island family.
I
know that no one person can fix all this it's clear that we need our
government to help us create the kind of community that addresses these
problems. With your help, I can win this election for the office of
State Senator and can be the voice of District 28 at the State House.
I look forward to the opportunities of this campaign, and to working with you, because working together, we can do better!
I look forward to seeing you at the Kick-Off! Please either return the enclosed form, or give me a call to confirm, at 225-7455. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Josh Miller
